How It Works

Four steps to the spotlight.

1 Prepare Your Monologue

Select or write a 1-minute comedy or drama monologue. It can be original or published — what matters is that it's appropriate, fully memorized, and delivered with intention. This is your first impression. Make it count.

2 Record to Industry Standard

Record your submission at home with proper framing (head and shoulders, camera at eye level), a clean background, clear audio, good lighting, and minimum 1080p resolution. No cuts. No edits. One take. Speak directly to the camera. Present yourself like the professional you are.

1080p · Single Take · No Edits

3 Submit & Pay Online

Complete the official registration form, upload your headshot, submit your video link, and pay the $20 application fee. Submissions are reviewed by the AfroSouth selection committee. Deadline: September 1, 2026. Don't leave this for the last minute.
